On September 17, Tashkent`s Turkiston Palace of Arts will host a concert titled “The East and Handel” by the State Chamber Orchestra of Uzbekistan. The concert will feature soloists from Germany. The concert has been organized by the Embassy of Germany in Uzbekistan in collaboration with the Fund Forum. The concert will become the first in the series of events to be held as part of German Week in Uzbekistan.

Forum Junior Sport Complex opens its doors to everyone

August 25, 2010

August 25 marks the fifth anniversary of Forum Junior Sport, a children’s sporting complex, which was established by the Fund Forum in 2005. The children attending the complex are trained by leading coaches in calisthenics and woo-shoo. Over these five years, many of the trainees have emerged as champions of Uzbekistan and winners of international competitions and world championships.

On August 24, Tashkent hosted an International Scientific and Practical Conference “Avicenna’s Teachings and Modern Medicine”, organized by the Fund Forum, Abu Ali Ibn Sina (Avicenna) International Association of Traditional Medicine, the Women’s Council and the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan. The conference dedicated to the 1030th anniversary of Abu Ali Ibn Sina, whose invaluable scientific legacy, including his fundamental work “The Canon of Medicine” is believed to be of great value across the world, was attended by over 300 people.

A Thousand Square Meters of Contemporary Art

Around 500 people came together on August 16 at Tashkent`s Youth Creativity Palace to attend the opening ceremony of Navqiron Oz`bekiston (Young Uzbekistan) Festival of Traditional and Contemporary Art, a biennial event organized by the Fund Forum and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. The primary goal of the project is to discover and support young artists and masters of applied art. As many as 300 such artists applied to the Festival`s Organizing Committee to get the opportunity to showcase their artistic endeavors. On display are over 1,000 works.

From August 17 to 24, Tashkent`s Youth Creativity Center will host master classes by local artists, art historians, designers and other art professionals, which will be held as part of the fourth Navqiron O`zbekiston Festival. The Fund Forum has been granted Special Consultative Status by ECOSOC

August 5, 2010

The Fund Forum has been granted Special Consultative Status by the UN Economic and Social Council. The respective decision was made at a recent session of the ECOSOC in June 2010. The Fund Forum has thus become the first public organization in Uzbekistan to receive the status with the ECOSOC. Shortly afterwards, another partner organization of the Fund Forum, Mehr Nuri Charitable Foundation, was granted Special Consultative Status.

Around ninety representatives of youth studios and press centers, and active members of Kelajak ovozi Youth Initiative Center attended seminars and training sessions held as part of the Youth Media Forum organized by the Fund Forum and the NAEMM in Tashkent on June 29, and participated in the Media Festival “Ozod yurt to’lqinlari” (Waves of a free country), an event organized annually by the NAEMM with the goal of boosting the activities of nongovernmental television and radio stations in the Republic.
